Steiff Soft and Cuddly Dragon Toys
Ages 3 years and up…. So you love Dragons and you love soft dragon toys, you want to own/give something soft and cuddly, but you need something a little more, something a little bit more special. Well it’s all very well to have a cuddly little dragon but when it’s old and battered is it going into the yard sale (jumble sale, hey we’re British) with that Woody toy or is going to be something that’ll keep you in clover. Well cuddly dragons and antiques might not seem to go hand in hand, but anyone watching the “Antiques Roadshow” for more than a couple of episodes must be familiar with the name Steiff. Steiff is synonymous with battered old teddy bears that look only fit for the duster drawer to be declared treasured heirlooms. The little Steiff button in the bear’s (dragon’s) ear declares it a quality item and one that must be dusted down, restored and kept for centuries.
Now I’m not advocating buying a dragon just for it’s potential future value, a dragon is not just for Christmas it’s for Halloween and Easter and and …. well you should keep it for years. The Steiff button though not only declares it a bona fide potential collectable but it declares it to be something that is made to last.
Anyway there are three (well four if you count the keyring) cutey little dragons in the Steiff range. There’s the rather ample and lovely Rocky Dragon who tips the scales at 42cm and there’s two little 17cm Dragons called Raudi and Racy. It’s interesting in the information that not only have they declared names for them (it’s a Steiff thing) but they even say if they’re a little boy or girl dragon. For me though they can be whatever and whoever you want them to be just as long as you love them and hug them when they need a bit of a cuddle.
Remember too when they’re old and battered and you need a penny or two to sell the Teddy Bears first and hold on to your soft dragon toys.
